EON RECHARGE RETREAT POP UP LONDON
The brief : to create a solar centric "Pop up" experience along the Southbank London. A Recharge zone for mobiles and a working solar charging "pop up" that would be entirely run on Solar Electricity. A tall feat for a London in October as the weather can be very changeable.
THE CABINS
The easiest way to create these experiences was to use shipping containers and cut them to the desired requirements. Each container would then be fitted out on site. The solar power for the cabins would be provided by 6no. Solar powers featured on the reception cabin. The batteries and cabling exposed in acrylic cabinets, illustrating the technologies used.
MIND BODY & SOUL
The experience would engage with 3 cabin experiences. The Mind, body and the Soul. Where Mind would focus on meditation and relaxation, the Body on Exercise, where charge bikes illustrate the power requirements to power everyday electrical items. The Soul, A food and soul bar where food influencers create a buzz by preparing amazing healthy menu and a free juice bar.
SKETCH PROPOSAL TO DESIGN INTENT
Sketches were used to a great extent in this project, due to time constraints and budget. The project moved very fast so this was the correct response. A full design intent drawing pack was drawn up and contractor and client were kept in the loop of changes and revisions.
CHALLENGES
The weather, proved to be a main component in the design. creating watertight cabins on a very exposed part of the Thames In October.
Access was also an issue as the 22ft containers/ Cabins had to be trolleyed onto site for a loading zone 200m away in the peak Summer season.
The Technology, the batteries and Solar power has been tried and tested in the residential market but this was completely untested for a Pop Up. Should there be not enough energy to power the site it would be rather embarrassing for all parties.
CREATE A BUZZ ON SOCIAL MEDIA
One of the main parts of this project was the Experience within the Cabins. Therefore please enter the Social media Influencers. From Roxie Nafousi to Melanie Sykes and Roger Frampton.
IMAGES OF THE COMPLETED
Luckily the sun shone in October, these are some images of the finished Pop Up Brand Experience.
