RIO TINTO ANNE ST. BRISBANE
St Anne's Street Brisbane was to be the new site for the proposed workplace environment 25,000m2 of workspace. A proposal that was to be socially aware, community driven, personable and can adapt to further requirements.
EARTH TO SKY
The earth to sky concept created key strata in the vertical assimilation of the building. Therefore each plate had is own look and feel established.
KEY SIGHTLINES
The open plan feel of the floor plates was a consideration and to create visable connections within the workplace. A modular workbench connected the informal and social breakout zone with the private and formal meeting areas.
MEETING AND BREAKOUT
The Workfloors have a collaborative center, encoraging interaction between staff. The vertical connection was a key consideration, with an spiral staircase enclosed by a mesh encasement. The breakout meeting zones were set into a extruded layer with surrounding planting used as screening.
MODULAR CONSIDERATIONS
The lease agreement was that the foyer would be a shared entrance by other lease holders within the building. The design also had to be flexible as regarding the time of the lease, therefore A modular, adaptive,flexible solution was to be the correct response to the brief. Therefore the main core of the proposal, from the rear back wall to the feature wall could be removed, it was designed almost like a installation.
GROUND FLOOR FOYER
A street approach to the entrance level with full height glazing to the perimeter, there was no hiding in this entrance. foyer. The concept was to create a connection with the street scape and the interior, creating informal bench seating within the foyer. The angle of these benches would lead the eye through to the social zone and the feature wall.
SOCIAL ZONE
The forest of digital screens, each with a personal story of Rio Tinto mining, hence conveying the socially minded aspect of the company and transparency between Rio Tinto and the community.
MINING STRATA
The concept was to create visual layers/strata , inspired by the strata levels in the mining process. On the external approach bench seating, then a social zone, a feature wall utilising metals formed from the iron ore directly from Rio Tinto an finally the core brand area with a red illuminated meeting zone.
